White Sands

White Sands is a lovely novelty in the surrounding area of West Texas and Southern New Mexico. A novelty I love introducing people to; especially when they've lived 1.25 hrs away their entire life and have never met the wonderous playland. ♥ Luckily, this weekend was nice enough to play in the cool sand with the sun lightly kissing your skin while listening to the screams of both young and old sleigh down the steep white hills. lol

Both Tury and Abby's first time here.... father and daughter time. :)

The sky loaned itself for some beautiful shots. Mid photo is where visitors can park and picnic or find a lil bit of cool shade.

The winds create their own form of artwork along the sands surface.

Like I said, both young and old can sleigh down the sandy hills. lol

My mini me.... he so dearly wants a snow board so that he can sand board. :D

This is our version of the beach without water or bathing suits. ;)
Needless to say, after going up and down the hills, everyone had fun and woke up today feeling pretty exhausted. The nice thing about going on a Sunday is that there are less folks visiting. The not so nice thing is that we all had to get up for work and school today with slight sunburns and sore legs. ;)

Special Appearance in Rome

It seems that the past few days I've been sent on a journey into Rome via two outlets. The first being from the book "Eat Pray Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert and the next being from the movie "The Rite".

I watched "Eat Pray Love" in the theatre prior to reading the book and loved it. I wanted to live vicariously through Elizabeth's journey. My cousin snail mailed me the book version when she was done reading it and I enjoyed it just as much as the movie. And yes, as usual, there are a ton of variances between the book and the film, but it all still works well together. I've been on this indirect path of enlightenment and embrace the idea of being in tune with the universe. You won't find me meditating or doing Yoga on a daily basis... it's more like spacing out into La La land and maybe once in a blue moon looking through photos of people doing the crane in yoga. I've been over-consumed with the Squirrel Syndrome to truly focus on my path to enlightenment. I found the book to be a lot wittier and funnier than I did the movie. It also has a lot more details and information. "Eat Pray Love" is sectioned of into 3 books. The first takes you into Rome where the author spends several months residing and learning Italian.

In "The Rite", I was also taken for a whilrwind visit into Rome. It was, in essence, another spiritual journey based on true events. Although the film was labeled as a horror film, I wasn't swallowed up by fear. It was more intriguing than it was thrilling. They even threw in some humor throughout the movie which, I thought, was pretty comical relief at points. Although, for those of you that have seen it, I'm not sure I believe Father Lucas would answer his cell phone during an exorcism. smh
Anyhow, both movies depicted different areas of Rome, yet, the same all at once. Someday I'd like to have my own meet and greet with the artwork and architecture alone. Someday.... :)

To post or not to post.... that is the.... squirrel!

Lately I've had the tendency to start things and then drop them, right smack in the middle. It's awfully irresponsible of me to do so, but I couldn't have it any other way. I do carry the guilt of owning 1/2 read books due to lack of interest, though.
I took my Mini Me to Barnes & Noble over the weekend to let him pick out some books as a reward for straight A's. He asks me, "Mom, aren't you getting one?" I pondered the idea for a good while because I thought to myself, "Why that's a grand idea, son!" Then I heard the whispers of long forgotten books luring my brain back into my closet (which is where my bookcase is): "You haven't finished reading us!! Remember you found us so appealing when you adopted us. We were orphans looking for a great home and now... we're trapped here becuase you've only given us some of your attention. Please.... come back. We don't want a new un-read neighbor." Needless to say, a pretty book summoned me over and said, "Take me home! I'm filled with wonderful bits of useless information!" And I went home w/ another adopted book. :D
